Sign Word List: ASL University, Lesson 1 (thanks, Dr. Vicars) Dr. B
Word 18 of 30

Word List Author Note: Dr. B uses the "flat O-handshapes" for this sign, which also can be used for "instructor" and "professor." Notice the 'suffix' (the PERSON ending). It serves as the "-er" suffix in the word "teacher." This PERSON ending (or Person Marker, in ASL) adds a "person" to a verb. So, by adding this 'suffix,' you can change these signs: WORK --> WORKER, SIGN --> SIGNER, LEARN --> STUDENT, ART or DRAW --> ARTIST, AMERICA --> AMERICAN.
